Questions About Counseling
What is supportive counseling?
Supportive counseling is a collaborative effort between the client during the
session where the client and counselor work together to change and gain self-
development. While we can’t “fix” your problems, we strive to create a supportive
environment to help our clients develop practical solutions. After completing the
problem assessment during our time together, we will work together to set goals to
focus on where you are and how to move forward to where you want to be. Let’s
help you focus on what changes assist you due to counseling. It is significant for
you to understand that you will get assistance with results from counseling if you
are a participant in the social skill-building process. In the first step of the process,
we will set goals to provide tools to help cultivate change and develop
communication/different approaches whether that means improved communication
skills and relationships promoting behavioral change.
