About Dr. Marian
Supportive Counselor
“My mission is to provide you
with quality supportive counseling
at Let’s Talk Family Services
Counseling.”
Hello, my name is Dr. Marian B. Ellis.
I am the owner of Let’s Talk Family Services Counseling, Inc.
We are a Tallahassee, Florida-based online therapy practice. How did the name of my practice emerge? My story, “Let’s Talk,” means “to provide internal and external communications or to the better social conflict to better an existing condition in the community.” Transformation in young people’s lives to gain control of social conflict begins at the early stages of social contact with others. Transformation must occur in our homes, schools, and communities to encourage positive skills development for children and youth and relationship support services. The transformative process must start with new concepts leading to new behaviors.
As a Social Worker, understanding the desired outcomes would provide a new way of thinking about positive affirmations and behaviors. We also provide training program to build community by introducing “Let’s Talk” to groups’ interactive sessions. Participants can learn to diffuse a situation instead of being angry with others. There is a need in the community and a concern about social conflict. Two goals are developed in this prevention program: address young people’s health and mental health needs, and address community safety.
My Approach to Healing

A safe space for effective communication and support through transparency, and vulnerability is vital for redirecting one’s day-to-day challenges. It begins by sharing ways of effective communication to enhance and support their life experiences. After gaining clarity, guidance, and commitment to change social behaviors, young people can begin to experience social activities such as “Let’s Talk” for social skill building for young people and the social participants.

My Inspiration into the Social Work Field
The “Let’s Talk” for Youth social skill building and being able to communicate effectively are
designed to reach out and listen to young people in the schools and local community. This
program will provide tools for reaching out to young people caught up in conflict and living lives of quiet desperation. The evidence-based program would teach positive social communication through outcomes of transformational leadership, which relies on listening, helping, supporting, developing, and removing obstacles and skills to help youths grow. From this perspective, this program creates a valuable interactive curriculum empowering youths to promote the “Let’s Talk” counseling kindness with others. The program will work with public schools prioritizing behavioral programs because people acquire social behavior most easily when young.
My Commitment to You

My values and beliefs align with the professional standard to help clients through difficult times life challenges. I am responsible for respecting the clients’ dignity and human relationships in all therapeutic sessions. My values and beliefs would be sensitive and respectful of the diversity that clients bring in for therapeutic sessions. I will adhere to the Code of Ethics’ values, principles, and ethical standards to guide my work and the population I serve.
My Background
Currently, as a counselor and owner, I began my education in Early Childhood
Development and Education at Tallahassee Community College. The classes allowed me to
research the needs of vulnerable populations in the community. This induced within me a
passion for social work. I began working on my bachelor’s degree at Florida State University in
2010. In 2012, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with Communication
as a minor from Florida State University. I interned at the Leon County Court House,
completing the intake of citizens arrested in preparation for the Public Defender’s Office. My
interest led me to appear every Thursday in the courtroom to learn more about social justice.
Since then, I have continued teaching as a Paraprofessional in the Leon County School District.
My academic achievements have led me to choose social work as a profession. I spent three
incredible years as an English-Speaking Other Languages (ESOL) classroom teacher at Pineview Elementary (2012-2015), where I realized my passion for teaching and the joy of observing the learning process as students learned to read. Success as an English-Speaking Other Languages (ESOL) teacher during my last year in the classroom led me to communicate with youths. In 2018, during my master’s program internship, I volunteered hours at an after-school program counseling youth on decision-making.I provided supportive counseling at a drug center during my Master's degree program. Working with youths continued with me during my Doctor of Ministry program for my dissertation project to work with youth on social skills.
